Life Skills Training Co-ordinator (6 Month Fixed Term Contract)
Dartington, Devon
£19,285 - £19,890 per annum (37.5 hours per week)

Do you have experience of working with young people with learning disabilities, ideally within an education setting? Have an interest in training? Want to take on a highly-rewarding contract with a people-centred organisation? If so, read on.

With over 20 years of success, Lifeworks provides a wide range of programmes and services to support children and young adults with learning disabilities. We’re currently looking for a Life Skills Training Co-ordinator to join us at Robins, our ten bed residential and respite home. This is a six-month contract that has the potential to extend.

Robins strives to be a leader in outstanding practice for all our young people and staff. This role will be central in achieving this and could lead to the development of training courses for homes such as Robins across our local area.

As a Life Skills Training Co-ordinator, you’ll be supporting a young person to transition from school life and deliver stated outcomes to enable them to participate in independent living and work.

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you’ll create a package of life skills training to support the individual in fulfilling their potential. This will include independence skills, outdoor education and work placements.

In addition to this, you will co-ordinate staff training at Robins by identifying training needs and requirements to assist staff in increasing their understanding of learning disabilities and enable them to provide the best possible support to young people at the home.

We require a passion and commitment to all our young people to ensure they are all supported, encouraged and inspired to embrace life, opportunities and celebrate achievements.

Interested? To be considered as a Life Skills Training Co-ordinator, you will ideally need:

- Experience of working with young people with learning disabilities in a further education
setting
- Knowledge of various learning disabilities

A driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be beneficial.

We are a well-established charity that provides an excellent range of staff benefits including 28 days’ annual leave (pro rata), an employee assistance programme, a company pension scheme, staff discount schemes, ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment. As a Disability Confident Leader, we are committed to making our recruitment process more accessible to disabled applicants.

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and they expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
