Support Workers – Bank (Young People with Learning Disabilities)
Dartington, Devon
Salary scale: £11.03 - £11.65 per hour
Working hours: Bank

We are searching for support workers to join our bank team at Robins Residential and Respite Home in Dartington.

As a bank support worker, you will have the flexibility to pick up shifts that suit you and work around your current commitments. Robins operates on a 24/7 basis, so whether you are looking for a few days a month that fit around another obligation, or perhaps you have availability on the weekends or in the school holidays, we would love to hear from you.

Children and young people with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every person we support to have a great life with excellent outcomes. We couldn’t achieve that without all the great Support Workers who join our care teams. It all starts with you!

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Support Worker. Our staff come from lots of different backgrounds, people with little or no experience but want a job that involves helping people, those who want a change of career, as well as experienced Support Workers. The one thing that links them all together is their desire to work with young learning-disabled people, make their lives better and help them to learn something new or take a further step towards independence. Our Support Workers certainly don’t see what they do as ‘just another job’.

Who are we?

We have been running our services in Devon since 1996, supporting and encouraging people with learning disabilities to realise their aspirations and achieve their very best futures.

Our values run through everything that we do. We work with passion and are kind, friendly, respectful and positive, believing that everyone has the right to be happy, safe and live a fulfilled life.

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people that we support, and we expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought, and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

About you

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has:

- Either a L2 in Health & Social Care, or L3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or commit to completing it within 2 years of employment (within 5 years for part time/bank staff), or have the equivalent demonstrable or transferable experience

What’s in it for you?

- 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), plus an extra two days after three years, and another three days when you hit five years with us.
- A contributory pension scheme and life assurance cover.
- Flexible working options.
- A generous thank you gift if you ‘recommend a friend’ to work with us too.
- Training and progression opportunities open to all.
- Wellbeing resources, including access to an employee assistance programme.
- Access to lots of retail and days out discounts.
- Fully funded sign up to your initial DBS and annual update service.

We champion equality and diversity in the workplace and actively support people with disabilities to fulfil their potential. As a Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to offering an interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the job and to making adjustments where needed to the application and interview process.

Please contact the HR team if you should require any support (including completing the application process using other formats) or require any further information about the role.
