Senior Programme Manager – Leadership and Management
Home Based (working from our Westminster office for at least one day a week)

About Us

With over 120,000 members in 140 countries, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has been at the heart of the mechanical engineering profession since 1847.

We strive to improve the world through engineering by developing engineers, promoting engineering, informing opinion and encouraging innovation.

We are looking for a Senior Programme Manager to join us and support the ongoing success of our established Learning and Development offering.

If you have expertise in leadership and management, personal development, business and commercial, or project management-related fields, this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact on the training offering of an organisation with a global presence.

The Role

As the Senior Programme Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of our Learning and Development programmes, which aim to help engineers develop their skills at every step of their career.

Specifically, you will develop, manage and generate revenue for the following training categories:

- Leadership and management
- Personal development
- Business and commercial
- Project management

Acting as a subject matter expert, you will:

- Coach and manage members of the Trainer team
- Develop and implement new ideas for L&D programmes, products and services
- Create specialised training programmes for clients
- Ensure target profit levels are achieved
- Keep abreast of current developments and contemporary thinking to ensure we deliver up-to-date solutions
- Depending on your background, deliver training
- Lead the design of new learning initiatives and product development

About You

To join us as our Senior Programme Manager, you will need:

- Expertise in leadership and management, personal development, business and commercial, or project management
- Strong client liaison skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- A degree level qualification (or equivalent experience)

Experience in a learning and development environment, preferably within a consultancy, would be beneficial. An L&D, training, HR or coaching qualification would also be an advantage, as would previous experience of working with engineers, technical professionals or within an engineering environment.

A full driving licence would also be favourable, as would an existing relationship with the CIPD.

Other organisations may call this role L&D Programme Manager, Learning & Development Portfolio Manager, Training Programme Manager, Lead L&D Consultant, Lead Training Consultant, or Principal L&D Consultant.

The Benefits

- Salary of £50,000 - £65,000 per annum
- 5% annual bonus for achieving targets
- 26 days’ holiday per annum plus Bank Holidays
- An extra day off for your birthday
- Benefits including stakeholder pension scheme, life assurance and private health cover
- Continuous training and career development
- A range of wellbeing benefits to encourage a healthy work-life balance

This is a brilliant opportunity to utilise your passion for your specialist subject area to shape and grow a key training portfolio for an internationally successful organisation.

The portfolios you will be managing will be used to enrich the engineering industry and support professionals across the globe to achieve their aspirations, regardless of where they are in their career.

This is a full time role, working five days a week. However, we would consider working three or four days a week for the right candidate.

Interviews will be held on an ad-hoc basis as suitable applicants apply.

Thank you for your interest in this post. We look forward to receiving your application.
