Support Workers – Full-Time Days (Learning Disabilities)
Dartington, Devon

Salary scale: £9.53 - £10.18 per hour (dependant on qualifications)
Working hours: Full-time days (40 hours per week)

We are looking for amazing full-time Day Support Workers to join the team within our 10 bed Residential & Short Break Home in Dartington.

About the Role

Children and young people with learning disabilities and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every person we support to have a great life with excellent outcomes. We couldn’t achieve that without all the great Support Workers who join our care teams. It all starts with you!

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ Support Worker. Our staff come from lots of different backgrounds, people with little or no experience but want a job that involves helping people, those who want a change of career, as well as experienced Support Workers. The one thing that links them all together is their desire to work with young learning-disabled people, make their lives better, and help them to learn something new or take a further step towards independence. Our Support Workers certainly don’t see what they do as ‘just another job’.

No two days will be the same as you will get involved in a variety of different tasks and activities whilst helping young people to learn the skills they need to live the life they choose.

About Us

Based in South Devon, Lifeworks provide high-quality short breaks and residential care, community-based programmes and specialist further education to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. At Lifeworks, we believe in the rights of all individuals with a learning disability, however complex, to receive the services and support they need to develop the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and they expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought, and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

About You

Ideally, you will have previous experience in this sector and hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Though this qualification is by no means essential, a willingness to gain the qualification within two years is required.

Defined as a “Good” provider by Ofsted, Robins are looking for “Outstanding” staff who will deliver support in a professional, caring way. In return, we would like to support you in making care work your career, offering you an extensive induction on commencement of employment and an amazing array of training opportunities, we will also work with you on your own individual development plan to help you to progress your career.
