About Us

Based in South Devon, Lifeworks provide high quality short breaks and residential care, community-based programmes and specialist further education to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities.

Our vision is simple – to support people with learning disabilities to have a great life. We seek to do this by creating opportunities for children, young people and adults so they can reach their full potential, are engaged with and valued by their local communities. We put the people that we support at the heart of everything we do and ensure we listen to their voices and views, as well as their families and other key stakeholders as we develop our services.

The Role

To enable us to drive forward with our strategic aims, we are looking to strengthen our existing senior management team with the appointment of a Head of Operations.

We are looking for an engaging, confident and qualified professional who will oversee our operational service areas in both social care and education. Someone who will lead by example, share our vision and values, consistently achieves excellence, invites innovation, thrives on making a positive difference to the young people we serve and can confidently work as part of the senior leadership team to develop opportunities that expand the reach and range of our services across the region.

As Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality, safe and effective services, as well as leading continued innovation, integration and transformation across our services whilst meeting the Charity’s strategic goals.

As the registered Responsible Person and Registered Individual in the regulated services, you will need to have a thorough understanding of the intricacies and challenges within our sectors, including statutory requirements such as CQC standards and OFSTED regulations in regard to children’s homes and further education, alongside quality standards within the services. You will also be able to meet the necessary qualifications, competence, skills and experience to supervise the management of the regulated activities.

About You

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Charity, you will need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the importance of safeguarding issues specifically for people with learning disabilities.

You will be able to evidence outstanding operational leadership at a senior level working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities, ensuring all services meet the relevant regulatory and quality standards. In addition to this you will be able to demonstrate a successful record of operating at a strategic level in areas such as financial management, developing and implementing strategic plans, setting objectives, building and managing stakeholder relationships.

Benefits

We are a well-established Charity that provides an excellent range of staff benefits:

- 33 days’ annual leave
- Annual Incremental pay rises (within grade)
- Pension and Life Assurance (T&C’s apply)
- Employee Assistance Scheme
- Retail/High Street shopping discounts (Eden Red)
- Fully funded Enhanced DBS & Update Service
- Refer a Friend bonus scheme (T&C’s apply)

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and we expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS.

As an accredited Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to encouraging applications from applicants who declare they have a disability, provided they meet the minimum job criteria as specified in the person specification, by offering a guaranteed interview.
